San Francisco and Jack Bauer in action...

If you go to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
Al those to go to San Francisco, gentle people with flowers in their hair….

Welcome to San Fran! Home of cable cars, ridiculously steep hills, the Golden Gate bridge, clam chowder, ridiculously steep hills, sourdough bread, Rice-a-Roni, and, of course, ridiculously steep hills. I’ve seen pictures of the city before, obviously, but I am still continuously amazed by how steep the roads are! Ashley and I went for a run the other night, just up the hill from our hotel. It was painful!

So far SF is a lot of fun. We’re staying in a quaint hotel near Union Square. I love it for its character and old-fashioned, European feel. Ashley dislikes it because we are staying in a tiny little room that has a distinct musty smell to it. We’re both crammed into a little room with two twin beds. It’s hilarious. Luckily we’re only staying until Monday and then it’s off to Santa Barbara.

We’re saving the touristy stuff for the weekend. The other night, we took the cable cars to Fisherman’s Wharf. Last night we met with my friends from college – it was really nice to catch up with them. We’ll be meeting them again on Sunday for a group trip to wine country. Definitely looking forward to that!

During the last part of our trip to LA, we had one final celeb sighting. We headed to the Santa Monica pier for a visit to Bubba Gumps. Once again, luck was on our side – They were in the process of shooting a scene from 24. That’s right, everyone’s favorite TV action drama was right across the street from where we sat and ate. When we left about an hour later, we decided to check it out a little closer. We joined a crowd of people hanging around, watching the crew and Keifer Sutherland prep for a scene in the parking lot. Once again, I didn’t get the chance for any pictures because I had planned on just getting a bite to eat, not running across one of the most popular TV shows on television right now. After about 15 minutes, they shot the scene, with Keifer hiding behind a car and shooting blanks at the bad guys while they shot back at him. It was awesome to see in person. Now I just need to watch that show as well just to see that scene when it pops up!
